Séminaire - Invitée : Dr. Dragana Mladenović, Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie, Allemagne: "Reconstructing Portus: Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Complex Archaeological Landscape"

We are happy to welcome Dr. Dragana Mladenović from the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (Germany). It will be a great oppotunity to know more about the research conducted in Portus, the Imperial maritime port of Rome, in the last decades:

"Portus, the imperial port of Rome at the mouth of the Tiber, is one of the largest and most complex archaeological sites of the Roman world. Its remains extend across almost 600 ha, where monumental structures and waterways survive to varying degrees within a landscape shaped by successive phases of construction and transformation, presenting challenges no single archaeological method can address.

Although its location was always known, little was understood about Portus until recently. Over the past twenty years, the Portus Project has combined non-invasive survey, targeted excavation, landscape and environmental archaeology, architectural analysis, material culture studies, and digital reconstruction. This lecture explores how these approaches can be integrated into an evolving understanding of an ancient port."
