About LIVE

A multidisciplinary research team from the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg, laboratory Image, City, Environment (LIVE) is at the crossroads of Human and Social Sciences and Geosciences.

It develops a global approach that mobilizes human and environmental components, spatial dimension and dynamics of the studied systems.

Urban systems are an object and a subject of favored study as part of an approach that defines itself as a "human ecology". Urban systems contribute to environmental changes at different scales, now and in the future.

Putting forward methods of measure and representation of geographical information, the research focuses on the dynamics of urban and territorial systems, contemporary landscapes, paleo-environments, daily and residential mobility, urban risks and pollution, territorial development.

The laboratory is affiliated to the National Institutes of ecology and environment and social sciences at CNRS. It is involved in the Masters Environmental Geography, Earth Monitoring and Geomatics and Urbanism and Planning at the Faculty of Geography and Planning of Strasbourg, belonging in the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences Universe and Environment (ED413) of the University of Strasbourg.
