Urban climate

Abstract

The research aims to develop tools and methods (mainly based on modelling) to understand the processes that determine urban climate. The aim is to guide urban planning policies aimed at adapting urban areas to future climate conditions.

Research objectives

  • Simulate urban climate
  • Understand the physical processes that explain the urban climate
  • Designing strategies to improve urban comfort without increasing energy consumption
  • Adapting urban spaces to future climate conditions

Projets

  • Projet ADEME AMBRRES « Multi-criteria approach for a resilient and healthy building » – 2020-2024. Coordinator : Maxence Mendez (Octopus Lab). Participants : OCTOPUS-LAB, ENGIE, NOBATEK, LIVE. Post-doctoral fellow : Dr. Florentin Breton.
  • Projet CLIMAREA « Climate change: improving territorial planning of public institutions for adaptation to change » – 2019-2021. Coordinator : ATMO Auvergne Rhône Alpes.  Participants : French (Auvergne Rhône Alpes, Provence Alpes Côtes d’azure) and italian (Val d’Aosta, Piemonte, Liguria) air quality agencies.
