Call open - Take part to the FFS 2025 Workshop in Strasbourg

Either you dig it or you map it, either you are interested by the history of agricultural landscape or by historical ecology, palaeopedology, geomorphology…, either you are a master student or a senior researcher, you are welcome to take part to the FFS 2025 Workshop in Strasbourg.

 

General information

Subscription is free and limited to 20 participants, by sending a mail to damien.ertlen[at]live-cnrs.unistra.fr (before the 25 of August). Thursday and Friday lunches are included.

Preliminary program

Wednesday 24 of September 2025:

2pm-6pm short presentations on following topics:

  • what is a former field system ?
  • What are your favorite former field systems?
  • Small regional reviews
  • Field system specific review
  • Existing databases /
  • Study case...
  • etc

All participant from student to senior researcher are welcome to give a small presentation.

6pm: ice-breaker

 

Thursday 25:

database and GIS day: how do we digitalize former field system: agree on a common methodology to feed a common database at different spatial scales. (including practical digitalizing /mapathon/collaborative mapping)

PhD and master students from Strasbourg University will also be unrolled to take part to the practical part and assist the participants that are less familiar with GIS

 

Friday 26:

Morning: project of a review publication in the frame of central Europe: definition of research questions, definition of the study area, definition of a strategy, etc.

3pm: Short synthesis

4pm: end of the workshop

Researchers interested in such a publication but that could not take part to the workshop are welcome to contact us.

 

A short fieldtrip to visit former field systems around Strasbourg could be added.
